I was pretty on the fence about the video came sperging, but:

Why does this "android" not wear shoes? This is apparently and in my mind a form of "non-sexual" fan service. If it's to drive up controversy for publicity, by encouraging this, that's still bad.

Who made this game? Some weirdo South Korean. They treat women weird, go figure.

Does it matter? That's basically asking why Omniman from Invincible doesn't wear any shoes in last animated season.

That's just designer/artist' choice. There's nothing complex about it nor some secret context behind stuff. It's just lead designer/artist' vision, no matter how thoughtful or retarded it may be looking.

Do you know who it matters to?

A certain demographic of people.

Obviously I personally don't mind if she wears shoes. Especially given the story is about being on a lunar base facing hostile enemies. Is anyone else in the entire story arc barefoot? Since when are Androids barefoot? But why not just take your shoes off? By the way, why does the Android wear clothes if she can't feel the cold? She doesn't need shoes. Why a jacket at all?

I mean, shoes would make sense for protection. Imagine all the sharp stuff she could step on. Yikes. So shoes or even boots could make sense.

The reason she's not wearing shoes is because "She charges her battery through the soles of her feet". Which makes sense as shoes are removable and apparently anything she steps on damages her charging ports.

The hoops they go through to take her shoes off...

Imagine if part of the game was just making sure she was charged and you stopped at a thing in the wall which is like a medkit :)

Instead of her needing to "constantly charge" which literally no wireless device on the planet so far before the invention of Diana needed.

But then she would be wearing shoes instead of going barefoot, not even wearing shorts underneath her skirt...

Dude just be direct, what point you try to make? All I can see is that you beat it around the bush and nobody get what are you try to say.
 
Okay if it's NOT to do with children's feet why is the final boss also this child character. If it's about "protecting" children why is the main enemy that concludes the boss fight also a barefoot little girl. You actually kill one in the end... So is the design really about bringing out "Paternal instincts"? Why are both the main characters barefoot little girls, good and evil?

I'll also add that Diana is technically a "9,000 year old vampire" because she's an Android which is always a comforting trope. She's not "actually" a kid. So...
 
Just clarifying the final boss of Pragmata needs to be barefoot because she's "charging through the soles of her feet" and this needs to happen constantly because reasons.

You people started the wall of text about Pragmata thing. I tried to avoid it for as long as I could but now I just see that you people will side against Josh no matter what. Why defend this weird-ass game so hard? It's embarrassing to just be contrarian no matter what. How can you deny that this is not clearly a story line that completely revolves around children's feet? The entire space station is a tactile charging point for feet. The final boss battle is when another little barefoot girl shows up.
