I recall another Livestream, a link for which I no longer have, where Vivian was discouraging one of his viewers from becoming a content creator, saying something to the effect of:
"You can't make videos like ContraPoints". Vivian apparently doesn't know that Nyk was an Uberdriver in Baltimore when he made his first ContraPoints videos back in 2016, while Vivian was busy trooning out and becoming a junkie with "Laura". Nyk wasn't making any money from Patreon back then. I remember a tweet from Nyk at the time, where posted of a picture of this bottle of $50 wine he bought with some of his first Patreon money, but Nyk was drinking that wine with a bowl of ramen for dinner, because he was still that poor.
There are transpeople all over Youtube starting commentary channels hoping to break bank like ContraPoints and PhilosophyTube, but due to the HRT draining them of testosterone and thus the energy they need to make videos, they end up being too lazy to make actual videos and instead spending all their time doing Livestreams where they froth at the mouth about all the people they want to kill... and then they wonder why no one but a handful of their fellow mentally ill extremists wants to watch their shit.
When I first discovered Vivian Strange, the thought of
"OMG, he's kinda like early ContraPoints!" did flash through my mind. However, having spent a lot of time with his content, it's very clear to me that Vivian, while being very obviously influenced by Nyk*, and thus within the realm of my "type" of troon lolcow, is definitely nothing like Nyk. Vivian is what happens when you're a Nyk who doesn't have mass appeal and can't ever hope to achieve the kind of fame or make the kind of money on Youtube that Nyk eventually made. Vivian makes sure to point out that he trooned out in 2016, a year before Nyk did in the summer of 2017. He was also significantly younger than Nyk. Nyk trooned out at 27, Vivian at 21. They're both typical millennial AGP transpeople, but I do think the fact that Vivian damaged himself at a much younger age than Nyk is the reason he's more wild, extreme and maladjusted than Nyk.
I love how Vivian constantly goes back and forth between envying Nyk for being more succesful, and wanting to be Nyk, despite lacking Nyk's charisma and (yes) work ethic. I remember when Nyk re-started his ContraPoints channel back in 2016-2017, he was Livestreaming with other, bigger Youtubers at least once a week. Many of these Youtubers were ideological opponents. Nyk Livestreamed with Lauren Chen, with Sargon of Akkad, Blaire White, a lot of Youtubers who now have audiences in the millions. Vivian, I bet you've never seen this Livestream between Lauren Chen and Nyk before, and you never got to see it when it was posted. Most of Nyk's current fans have not seen it, and Nyk himself made sure to hide it by asking Lauren to unlist it. Lauren Chen, despite being a rightwing free speech advocate, for some reason went along with Nyk's request that this stream between them be withdrawn from public view (read: censored). Fact is, Nyk wasn't sitting on his ass crying about the algorithm hiding his videos. Nyk went out there and actually debated the alt right on their own platforms. This is why Nyk has millions of viewers today. This is why you will never be Nyk, no matter how much you claim, disclaim or reclaim him as an influence and someone you wished you were personal friends with.
Vivian can't do live debates because he's too mentally ill do to so. Yet Vivian insists that Nyk only grew his channel through algorithmic bias. That was certainly a part of it, but the reason Nyk was picked up by the algo at the time was because he worked the algo hard by doing collabs with others. For all his talk about building community, Vivian just keeps to himself and expects others to just stumble upon his channel.
In one of his Community tab updates, Vivian shared a video by Youtuber Ali Nahdee, someone who has since distanced herself from Vivian, while vaguely referring to
"left-leaning white feminist video essayists" who
"instigated the Twilight 'Renaissance'/Reappraisal"... neglecting to mention the fact that he himself was directly involved with that "Renaissance", as a collaborator of Lola Sebastian's, in a video... that also happened to include audio samples of none other than Nyk/ContraPoints himself reading Twilight excerpts. Vivian Strange had no problem with white feminists reviving Twilight, as long as he could coattail-ride on their videos to promote his own channel and to create the appearance of being close to the BreadTube elite he admired so much and definitely never noway wanted to gain sexual access to. I bet Vivian originally expected that Lola Sebastian's inclusion him the very same video essay where Nyk was reading Twilight quotes, I bet Vivian expected that to be his ticket to Nyk. When Vivian says:
"Frankly, I'm really tired of hearing white women talk about Twilight", he's not only referring to Lola Sebastian, but also to Nyk, who made his own Twilight video. The reason why Vivian was highlighting Ali Nahdee's essay was not because he has changed his mind on Twilight (he never gave a fuck about Twilight), but because he can weaponize the video essay of his latest favourite Youtuber to triangulate not just one but two Youtubers he formerly admired, one of whom was a personal friend. This is how utterly evil and vile Vivian Strange is towards friends he has discarded.
Vivian clearly got on Youtube with the intent to fuck other Youtubers, and Nyk was one of those people. Lola, in her testimony, wrote about Vivian getting mad when she refused to introduce him to (what presumably is an indirect allusion to) Nyk:
"Vivian also pretty much forbade me from meeting or seeing her partner, whom I wanted to get to know, and this made me nervous. Meanwhile, Vivian began insisting I introduce her to my “famous” friends and acquire industry connections for her, which I was uncomfortable with. I usually refused, and I regret introducing her to the people I did. She often told me I was “too famous not to be generous about networking,” which concerned me — I’ve never considered myself famous. Vivian referred to us both as famous."

Vivian was so openly thirsting after Nyk, he even speculated about his idol ContraPoints being a bottom at one point during a Livestream. For the record, Nyk himself disclosed that he's a bottom in one of his pretrooning videos where he spoke about his obsession with pegging. We all eventually figured out that Nyk is bottom on KiwiFarms, but we only indulged this kind of speculation to make fun of Nyk for his delusional batshit relationship to Oliver/PhilosophyTube.
So yes, I speculated and still speculate that one of the
"famous" people that Vivian was likely using Lola to gain access to was Nyk/ContraPoints. What was the end result of Vivian using Lola to get laid
and connected? Lola stated on BlueSky now even more reluctant to plug other creators' work. Because of what Vivian did, Lola now has to post advance warnings explicitly she will not share people's content for the sake of promotion.
